Emily Terndrup was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, where she began her dance training at age 12. Training primarily at Dance Vision and the Robert Thomas Dancenter, Emily studied ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary styles. She spent summers studying at the University of Minnesota’s Horton Technique Intensive, the Dancenter Choreographic Workshop, and at the New Generation Project in Minneapolis. An interest in ballet led her to dance with Iowa Dance Theatre, the Iowa State Center, Iowa Youth Ballet, and Allegro Contemporary Ballet. After an early graduation from high school, Emily worked as a teacher and choreographer at Dance Vision. Since moving to New York, she has had the pleasure of creating and performing works with Gallim Dance, Shannon Gillen + Guests, and the immersive theater company Punchdrunk. As a performer and choreographer, her work has been presented at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as venues in New York, Utah, Iowa, and Colorado.
